It is already apparent that street furniture can support vertical axis wind turbines. So such generators should be added to other structures in the built environment. The implementation of integrated wind energy will depend upon appreciation of wind flows in the built environment and the use of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software to assess such flows. There is an interest, in the group, on developing on the design of the buildings and the wind turbine structures to develop energy generation - for sustainable buildings. |
