The efficiency of heat exchangers is a critical matter for all sots of energy generation - from solar power to cars to nuclear power. The integrated modelling of the heat exchangers - both in their detailed design and in their environmental interaction is being undertaken within the group. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with integrated coupled heat transfer simulations has proved beneficial in understanding the design options and developing improved heat transfer. It is anticipated that including a structural element (in the simulations) will enable the higher heat transfer possible in microchannel devices, by considering the options for embedded pumping. |
